According to statements in local histories some researchers have concluded that Mary, wife of Charles Payne Senior early resident of Cow Head, was born Mary Brooks. This conclusion may not be correct and was likely based on the incomplete or biased reading of a notation in Bishop Field's 1849 List of Inhabitants. The conclusion is also questionable in light of a more recently discovered document, The Last Will and Testament of John Brook(s),1823.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Basil Melbourne McAuley announce his passing on Sunday, March 26th, at his family residence in Summerside in his 71st year. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Mona (nee: Lod er); children Karen (Rendell Matthews), Janice (Brian Brake), Albert (Lisa), Hilda (Byron Bellows); daughter-in-law: Sherry McAuley; seven grandchildren: Paula, Colin, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Meghan, Wilfred and McAuley; brothers: Aubrey (Olive) and A lfred (Alberta); Sister Inez (Pierce Carter). In-laws: Jane McAuley, Harriet McLean, Olive McAuley; Doreen (Jerry Whyte), Shirley Loder and Hilda Ruth; Richard Loder; special niece Elizabeth Anderson, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Alexander and Laura McAuley; brothers: John, Alexander, Lionel, Angus and Donald and by son: Paul in 1994. Visitation will take place at Bethany United Church in Summerside beginnin g Monday evening, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William Mercer officiating. Interment to follow at Bethany United Church Cemetery in Summerside. As expre ssions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation, Chemotherapy unit, or Bethany United Church Memorial Fund. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Lorraine (Ralph) Loder, Fort McMurr ay; grandchildren: Lionel (Tracey), Roddie (Sue Ann), Terri Lynn (Dave Gillett), all of Summerside, Koren (Donald Warford), Fort McMurray; great-grandchildren: Liam, Kristopher, Amie, Leah Jane, Cody, Meghan, MacKenzie and Caleb; brother-in-law A ubrey and Olive McAuley, Corner Brook; sisters-in-law: Olive McAuley, Mona McAuley, Harriett McLean, WinnieMaynard, Summerside, Inez (Pierce Carter), Corner Brook; along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predecea sed by her husband Lionel (1987); infant baby daughter Angela Marie; parents Annie and Henry Maynard; brothers William, Percey and Frank; sisters: Celia, Mary and Beatrice; eight brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. John Michael, a fisherman, was probably the first permanent resident of Crawley's Cove, settling there about 1863. John originally from Ship Harbour, Nova Scotia came to Bonne Bay as a fisherman on a Nova Scotian vessel.

The EISAN name disappeared from Bonne Bay in the 1930's with the death of Michael's second wife. The name was only carried on through his son Alfred EISAN (1864 - ?? ), who moved to Daniel's Harbour before the turn of the century
