His body was interred after December 14, 1932 at Rocky Harbour, Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Tombstone Inscription: William PAYNE husband of Hannah PAYNE, died December 14, 1932, age 78 years.

Entry No. 80 - These are to certify that William PAIN, bachelor, and Hannah SHEARS, spinster, both of Bonne Bay, North West coast of Newfoundland, were married according to the Rite of the Church of England, this thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven. (The said William PAIN and Hannah SHEARS having been previously married by the Lay Reader, there being at the time no clergyman to be found on the shore). By me Thomas P MAPIAH, Missionary Priest.
