(The said Robert BRAKE and Eliza PAYNE having been married, by a layman on the 25th November 1872, there being no clergyman to be found in the place at the time, according to a custom prevailing on the shore). By me Joseph J CURLING, Missionary Priest. The above marriage was solemnized between us; his mark X Robert BRAKE and her mark X Eliza PAYNE.
